Auglaize County has an outstanding labor force of
over 25,200 with more than 6500 jobs in manufacturing.
Beyond location, Auglaize County is blessed with
a skilled workforce and availability to customized
career pathway training programs offered through
Wright State University – Lake Campus and Rhodes
State College. Also, Auglaize County is served by
two vocational high schools which prepare high school
students with a trade skill in Automotive Technology,
Computer Assisted Drafting(CAD), Computer Support
Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Manufacturing
Engineering Technologies, Medical Technology Preparation,
and Precision Machining. Within a 150 mile radius,
students from Auglaize County can attend college
at some of the most prestigious universities in the
Midwest, including The Ohio State University, Wright
State University, University of Dayton(I-75) , University
of Cincinnati(I-75), University of Findlay(I-75),
Bowling Green State University(I-75), University
of Toledo(I-75) and the University of Michigan.
For the second year in a row, Site Selection Magazine
has ranked Auglaize County as one of the top twenty
micropolitans in the United States. In order to qualify
for this international distinction, a micropolitan
area (under 50,000 people), must have new business
creation or expansion that either had a one million
dollar capital investment, addition of 50 or more
jobs, or had an expansion of at least 20,000 square
feet. In Auglaize County, 6 companies qualified.
Those companies are Graham Packaging of Minster,
Safeway Packaging and Crown Corporation of New Bremen,
AAP St. Marys Corporation of St. Marys, and Miller’s
Textiles and Midwest Elastomers of Wapakoneta.
